Moments of Emotion Vol. II is the follow-up album by Hugo Antonio Miranda, released in August 2025. Continuing his journey of original solo piano works, this collection leans more into imagination and storytelling through sound. Instead of coming from personal history, these pieces grew out of images, small moments, and creative ideas that Hugo shaped into music
The album features titles such as Taking Flight Miniature, Romantic River, A Loving Goodbye, Forgotten, Falling Leaves, Gentle Cow, Magic Ballroom, After We Spoke, A Cat’s Lullaby, and Calmness in You.
With Moments of Emotion Vol. II, Hugo expands his voice at the piano, pairing his lyrical style with a more imaginative approach. The pieces come together as a range of moods that reflect his growth and his way of turning images into music.

Taking Flight Miniature
From Hugo:
Taking Flight Miniature is a piece that carries a lot of meaning for me. It began as an orchestral work back in 2022, inspired by the singing voice of a friend. There was something in the tone and expression of her voice that sparked the idea for a theme, and when I shared it with her, she suggested the title Taking Flight. It immediately felt right, the music had this quality of lifting off, of moving upward toward something greater.
With the piano version, Taking Flight Miniature, I wanted to bring that same energy into a more personal space. The orchestral version is grand and cinematic, filled with layers of sound, while the piano allows the theme to shine in its simplest, purest form. I tried to capture that sense of uplift and momentum through soaring melodies and romantic harmonies, while also letting moments of intimacy and vulnerability come through.
For me, this piece reflects the feeling of rising above the weight of everyday struggles and allowing yourself to dream freely. Every time I play it, I feel a mixture of hope, nostalgia, and inspiration, like a reminder that music can help us take flight in our own way, even if only for a moment.
Romantic River
From Hugo:
Romantic River is a piece I originally wrote in 2016, and for this album I decided to revisit it and give it new life through a fresh recording. When I composed it, I imagined a serene river, calm, flowing, and peaceful, almost like the perfect setting for a love story to unfold.
The texture of the piece begins delicately, as if the river is still and reflective. As it develops, the sound grows in volume and movement, portraying the body of water as it flows with more energy. I wanted the listener to feel both the tranquility of the surface and the subtle shifts underneath, like emotions stirred by memory or connection.
To me, Romantic River feels like a musical painting. It’s one of those pieces that reminds me of how music can hold both simplicity and depth at the same time.
A Loving Goodbye
From Hugo:
A Loving Goodbye is one of the most emotional pieces I’ve written, as it was composed for my cat, Grumpy, who passed away in April 2025. Grumpy was such an important part of my life, and writing this piece became my way of saying goodbye to him while also expressing how deeply I loved and valued him.
In the music, I tried to capture both sides of what I was feeling, the warmth of all the amazing moments we shared together, and the deep sadness of having to let go. The melodies carry a sense of tenderness while the harmonies often lean into a more somber color, reflecting loss.
Composing A Loving Goodbye helped me process my grief and love for Grumpy. It’s my way of keeping his memory alive, not only for myself but for anyone who has ever loved and had to say goodbye to an animal companion.
Forgotten
From Hugo:
Forgotten is one of my earlier pieces.Composed around 2013, this piece is a reflectction of the sorrow of being forgotten. It speaks to the emotional vulnerability of our desire to be remembered.
Falling Leaves
From Hugo:
I composed Falling Leaves to capture the delicacy of leaves drifting down when the wind is gentle.
Gentle cow
From Hugo:
Gentle Cow is a piece about compassion for cows and their tender, peaceful nature. I tried to reflect this gentleness through delicate melodic lines and a softly arpeggiated bass. I wrote this music because cows are among the most exploited and abused animals in the world. It is my plea for us to stop consuming them and taking their milk, and instead allow these amazing, sentient beings to live lives filled with care and love.
From Hugo:
I composed this piece while imagining a magical ballroom filled with soft light and tender movement. I wanted the music to feel like a gentle dance, graceful, warm, and inviting. Its harmonies are delicate, and the melody is simple but elegant.
Magic ballroom
From Hugo:
After We Spoke is a piece that captures the joy that one feels after a meaningful conversation with a friend or a loved one. The harmonies are gentle and soothing, and the melody carries joyful, reflecting that small shift in mood that comes from being understood.
after we spoke
From Hugo:
A Cat’s Lullaby was composed for my own cats, inspired by the quiet tenderness they show when they sleep. I wanted the music to reflect their softness, those slow breaths, subtle movements, and the peaceful warmth they bring into a room. The piece aims to capture that gentle and comforting presence.
a Cat’s Lullaby
From Hugo:
Calmness in You is a piece that seeks to capture the quiet serenity that lives at the core of certain people. When I composed it, I was thinking about the feeling of returning to yourself after a long day, when everything finally calms down. My goal was to create music that reminds us of the calm we hold within, even when life feels overwhelming.
