Moments of Emotion Vol. II is the follow-up album by Hugo Antonio Miranda, released in August 2025. Continuing his journey of original solo piano works, this collection shifts toward imagination and storytelling through sound. Rather than drawing from personal history, these pieces were born from images, actions, and creative sparks that Hugo developed into music.
The album features evocative titles such as Taking Flight Miniature, Romantic River, A Loving Goodbye, Forgotten, Falling Leaves, Gentle Cow, Magic Ballroom, After We Spoke, A Cat’s Lullaby, and Calmness in You. Each composition invites the listener into a different world—whether it’s the graceful flow of a river, the quiet comfort of a cat’s song, or the whimsical atmosphere of a ballroom filled with wonder.
With Moments of Emotion Vol. II, Hugo continues to expand his expressive voice at the piano, blending lyrical beauty with imaginative soundscapes. Together, the pieces create a mosaic of moods that highlight his evolving artistry and his gift for turning images into music.

Taking Flight Miniature
From Hugo:
Taking Flight Miniature is a piece that carries a lot of meaning for me. It began as an orchestral work back in 2022, inspired by the singing voice of someone I knew. There was something in the tone and expression of their voice that sparked the idea for a theme, and when I shared it with them, they suggested the title Taking Flight. It immediately felt right—the music had this quality of lifting off, of moving upward toward something greater.
With the piano version, Taking Flight Miniature, I wanted to bring that same energy into a more personal space. The orchestral version is grand and cinematic, filled with layers of sound, while the piano allows the theme to shine in its simplest, purest form. I tried to capture that sense of uplift and momentum through soaring melodies and romantic harmonies, while also letting moments of intimacy and vulnerability come through.
For me, this piece reflects the feeling of rising above the weight of everyday struggles and allowing yourself to dream freely. Every time I play it, I feel a mixture of hope, nostalgia, and inspiration—like a reminder that music can help us take flight in our own way, even if only for a moment.
Romantic River
From Hugo:
Romantic River is a piece I originally wrote in 2016, and for this album I decided to revisit it and give it new life through a fresh recording. When I composed it, I imagined a serene river—calm, flowing, and peaceful, almost like the perfect setting for a love story to unfold. There’s something timeless about the image of water carrying gentle reflections, and I wanted the music to capture that quiet beauty.
The texture of the piece begins delicately, as if the river is still and reflective. As it develops, the sound grows in volume and movement, portraying the body of water as it flows with more energy. I wanted the listener to feel both the tranquility of the surface and the subtle shifts underneath, like emotions stirred by memory or connection.
To me, Romantic River feels like a musical painting—soft brushstrokes of melody and harmony that invite you to step into the scene and linger there for a while. It’s one of those pieces that reminds me of how music can hold both simplicity and depth at the same time.
From Hugo:
A Loving Goodbye is one of the most emotional pieces I’ve written, as it was composed for my cat, Grumpy, who passed away in April 2025. Grumpy was such an important part of my life, and writing this piece became my way of saying farewell to him while also expressing how deeply I loved and valued him.
In the music, I tried to capture both sides of what I was feeling—the warmth of all the cherished moments we shared together, and the profound sadness of having to let go. The melodies carry a sense of tenderness, like a gentle remembrance, while the harmonies often lean into a more somber color, reflecting the weight of loss.
Composing A Loving Goodbye helped me process my grief and hold on to the beauty of what Grumpy brought into my life. It’s my way of keeping his memory alive, not only for myself but for anyone who has ever loved and had to say goodbye to a beloved companion.
